The Raffi Taxi...

That got you attention I am sure? Here is another one of those rare pieces that are known to exist. Sorry Raffi but this was too good to pass up.

1963 Checker Taxi Cab

As a joke George Bojaciuk had Raffi's picture and name placed on the driver's ID card on the Taxi's dash. Raffi had been tormenting George about something and this was his "fun" way of getting him back. Raffi mentioned there would be no way George would ever get an old picture of him. George was now challenged and on a mission from GOD so to speak, with the help of a young lady in the design studio, they found a really good, "bad" picture of Raffi!

The Taxi samples were sent for production; however, at the time there was a change in upper management at the Franklin Mint and Raffi had now left their employ therefore the Raffi gag had to be re-thought. The exterior graphics on the Taxi were to be enlarged over 40% which George changed and enlarged the graphics. He then asked his partner in crime overseas to change the name on the ID card located on the Taxi’s dash to an anonymous name since Raffi was no longer with the mint. Raffi's picture however still remains.

As a point of interest it is a picture of him in his Bluegrass band days sporting a moustache. George gave Raffi a taxi and they both laughed over the whole ordeal. If you look at the door graphics on the cab, they are correctly scaled with those of the cab they shot.

Ben Merkel of Twilight Taxi was a huge help during this project he and his taxi graveyard have been featured on the History Channel detailing the life and death of a Taxi.

Only 4 of these special Raffi Taxi’s are known to exist.
