Posted - 09/13/2020 : 20:42:48 The Chevy UTE has a neat little feature I just noticed.... back of the cab overhangs a small portion of the cargo area; that might allow some items to be hauled back there during a rain and not get too wet.

Posted - 09/13/2020 : 17:55:52 A very nice looking little truck.
Posted - 09/13/2020 : 16:35:49 Very interested....I'd never seen a ute this old.
Pickups were work trucks on the farm mostly back then, not the go-out-on-the-town vehicles they are now.
Because of the loads they were carrying, integrated passenger and load area bodies like this were susceptible to too much stress and twisting. Ford tried such a thing briefly in 1962, it was quickly discontinued because customers complained.
I will try to find a picture of one to post later.

Posted - 09/13/2020 : 12:53:33 Very cool. I have always wondered the same thing. I think they would have sold here in the US.
Posted - 09/13/2020 : 11:26:34 Sort of odd looking, but very practical and cool in its own way. The fore-runner to the El Camino without that special appearance.
Posted - 09/13/2020 : 11:18:22 Nice Truck, I guess that the powers that be at GM didn't think that there would be a market for them in the USA.
