Not to steal any thunder from Chet's great series of photos, but I was doing some research tonight trying to locate a hotel in St. Louis and found this shot from the 1920's.
I know it isn't all Model T Fords, but it sure looks like it at first glance.
In the background, upper right corner, I believe stands the Chase Park Plaza Hotel..... still there today. Many major league baseball teams stayed at that hotel over the years when they came to St. Louis to play the Cardinals. Not sure if that's still true, since the baseball field has moved twice since the 1920's.
I stayed there 2 nights in the '60's with my family, to watch a Cardinals/Dodgers weekend series in the then-new Busch Memorial ball park near the river. It's gone now, replaced by the current Cardinal field.

Neat photo.
'2' of the craziest cities I ever drove in were - 1. St Louis , 2. Cincinnati .
Their streets wound around the hills and the street names would change after you drove thru an intersection.
It is an adventure driving in either place. |
