months, the very inconvenient catheter and related accessory is gone!
According to the Xrays the surgical incisions and internal reconnections and reconstructions have completely healed. There are no restrictions on any activity that I normally do.
Stuff I used to take for granted, like bending over, turning around in bed, sitting in a chair, walking untethered, playing my accordion and driving a car I'm thankful for and enjoying again.
Hallelujah!
The bladder retraining time will take another 1 - 4 months.
Thanks for your prayers. Obviously, they were heard.

Congratulations on making it "through the rain" Frank! (The moment my doc took my catheter out was one of the happiest of my life!) Glad to hear you are doing well and getting back toward normalcy. My bladder never has been quite the same, even 2.5 years after my prostatectomy. That doesn't mean your experience will be the same -- good luck! |

It's good to know that you've healed and I hope that you get through the retraining period without any hitches. |

Frank, that's good news!
Did you go get that haircut at your barber yet? And does he like accordion music? lol You could just about work in your whole list in that one trip!
Hope you stay on that highway to full recovery! |

Chet. I was admonished that it could take a year or longer. Never envisioned myself doing kagels (I thought that was for a woman and for a different purpose), but that's the bladder training exercise. Now where do I find a place to do 100 of them every day? I may get thrown out of Home Depot.
Bill - Got the haircut the day before the catheter was removed. The day before that I had a TEE procedure done and my heart was shocked back into rhythm because the prostate surgery was so stressful that it knocked my heart out of whack.
And the day after that I was playing the accordion again - after a 77 day hiatus. I should mention that I forgot how to turn the accordion on (its' electronic).
Ah, the golden years . . . |
