Team on their win last night.Great job guys! Our grandson Drew was one of the team members and guarded the Net for 1 1/2 periods and NO goals were scored on his watch. Congratulations Drew on a job well done! You made me proud; you truly are an all-star.
These kids played their hearts out, they are all champs! Congratulations!
It is pretty special when you have a grandchild who is pretty damn good at sports. My granddaughters both play softball. The oldest, now in college doesn't play anymore but we followed her tournaments when she was on a travel team all the way to Massachusetts. The other granddaughter gets private coaching for hitting and pitching and has been to a softball clinic at Yale Univ. which is supposed to be attended by a lot of college coaches. Personally I think her parents (mainly her Dad) may be pushing her a little bit to much for a 13 year old, but she seems to enjoy it and is a straight A student. Maybe a softball scholarship is in her future, time will tell.
I hear you Jeff. A goalie trainer was at last weekends game, saw Drew and now wants to train him in Harrisburg one day a week; he saw his passion and ability. Yes he is good and not because he is my grandson either. You see it in the way he carries himself on the ice. And he loves playing the game. I should say he plays at a level much higher than his age.
You know I've been a coach for a lot of years... I can tell you it's fantastic to have a kid who plays with such passion it infects everyone around them... and that sounds like it may be the case for your grandson Drew. Shutouts aren't easy to get.... in any team sport.
I'll say this once more...hope someday he plays for the Red Wings in the NHL.... but - more important - that everyday he enjoys the path he takes getting to whatever level in the sport he pursues.
