Now these are the models that make me smile — old school baby, old school. As a young kid I can't begin to tell you all the cars/Hot Rods I owned that were painted red oxide. I believe you could thin one quart of Red Oxide primer out to a gallon and half. And the beauty of this paint was it dried almost instantly. No expensive spray booth needed to shoot a car this color; I loved it.
Give me a vintage model with big beautiful headlights, and I become putty in your hands.
Make it a Hot Rod with big beautiful headlights add a flathead V-8 and I'll marry it.
As a kid there were a lot of these old pickups in my life. I am not saying they looked anything like this; they didn't, but in my mind they sure did.
My friend Billy and me were forever pulling something out of a hole, spraying it red oxide and getting the beast to come back to life, if only for a little while. These rods were a part of my life and defined who I was, just ask my mother, she didn't get all those gray hairs from age.
