1972 was the year that the SAE net horsepower rating system went into effect and engines suddenly looked emasculated. Leave it to Pontiac to sneak in a ringer hidden deep in the options sheets, called the 455 HO.
Essentially a 455 block but chock full of the old ram air goodies that made it the strongest street machine available in 1972.
