Overall detail is good, not great. The color is what makes this model a classic and it is captivating. I personally enjoy dash detail on my models and this one is very sparse in crisp detail. The gauge cluster looked cheap, it reminded me of decals I would find on a $5.00 model at Wal-Mart.
Now before anyone's hackles get ruffled allow me to explain what I am referring to. If you view the image below look at the three gauges in the center of the dash, they lack depth and realism. I feel that a model, which sells for $135, should look a little classier than a toy in every aspect of its detail. In my opinion if the gauge graphic had a little depth of field added to them they would generate the illusion of an actual gauge, not a cheap sticker. You are the judge, it is your money that will be spent to obtain this replica, view the image below and decide for yourself.
Engine detail was on par and up to the standard we have come to expect from Danbury Mint. It is wired, plumbed and contains the bling that I enjoy, which are decals on the valve covers and air cleaner. This replica also included fuel lines, oil filter and more. I love bling and this model surely gave me what I was looking for.
Viewing the undercarriage you will find the plate that designates the number of your limited edition replica. Other than that the undercarriage is pretty sparse, no fuel or brake lines just the exhaust system and gas tank.
Overall the Danbury Mint '55 Sunliner Bumble Bee is a very nice model as long as you remember it is old tooling. The doglegs are still present on the doors and the side trim doesn't line up very well but is acceptable to me. The paint is flawless and glass like, all etched scripts are present and protected with a piece of clear plastic, which will need to be removed very carefully.
Therefore without taking out the micrometer or blowing up images of 1:1 automobiles and checking for absolute accuracy, I rank the Danbury Mint Bumble Bee Sunliner a 4 star model. I base this ranking solely on the image it was meant to represent and its overall build quality. If you don't have a '55 Sunliner in your collection then this is one you should consider. The "Bumble Bee" is a fun and interesting piece that will make a nice addition to any collection it did mine.
