OK guys, here it is the one I’ve been waiting for so long to see, one of my all­time favorites of the C1 Corvettes, the 1957 Corvette roadster in Aztec Copper from Danbury Mint.

Let’s start with what I don’t like first and get that out of the way. The paint job is not the best from DM with some over spray onto the chrome and some sloppy paint work on the dash and the steering wheel plus the old gas door problem not quite matching the body color other than that I’m very happy with this one.

OK, now onto the good stuff. I like the fact that DM left off all the scripts just the way Chip Miller did with his Vette other than the badges on the front and rear end. Plus the nod to Chip with that little name plate on the front. All the usual that we expect from the mints today doors, hood, and trunk even the rear panel over the convertible top and gas door all open and are lined up pretty good just like the real thing. Corvette was not really known in the early years to line up the door gaps all that well. I wish the air vent below the windshield would look a little better or even open that would be nice. I like the interior color of the seats and the carpet looks good together the gauges could use a little more detail to them and the hidden door hinges are good but the door panels could use a little more detail to them as well. Or am I just getting to spoiled by DM.

The engine is what I expect from them with all the good stuff in there and again I like the fact that it’s not a fuelie never was a big fan of that 57 type fuel injection motor. Wheels and tires look good as does the under­ side of this one with the working suspension and brake lines. The convertible top fits good and tight don’t know if it’s the best color match for the Aztec Copper paint but again it does look like the picture of Chip Millers Corvette that I’ve seen.
