The 1997 race season found Jon Gooding behind the wheel of the beautiful Mountain Dew Mustang Cobra. The message was loud and clear in the 7rsquo;97 season, if you want a chance at a championship you better have a Mustang. Mustangs captured all the poles, wins and all but two of the fastest race laps easily winning the Manufacturers’ Championship. Jon Gooding waged battle with other Mustang drivers such as; Dorsey Schroeder, Michael Lewis, Brian Simo, Tom Kendall, and finished fourth in the standings with Kendall as the Champion.
