1967 was expected to be another successful year for the Lola racing configuration but the stakes were raised with the introduction of the McLaren MGA. The Lola team’s new coupe gave outstanding track handling due to down force created by the revamped body shape but quickly learned the changes reduced top speed performance. The Lola’s and McLaren’s battled through the entire race season but it was clear that the McLaren’s had the large edge in endurance racing while the Lola achieved major successes in shorter events.
