To say Danbury Mint is hitting on all eight-cylinders would be an understatement, especially if you view the quality of their latest releases; they have all been breathtaking gorgeous and accurate. The 1957 Cadillac Eldorado is just another addition that solidifies their claim to fame.

Decide for yourself, open the door and slide on in, we'll take it for a spin before you decide if this beautiful replica is for you, or not.

Cadillac's completely restyled 1957 offerings borrowed heavily from the lines of the Park Avenue, a hardtop sedan "idea" car shown at the 1954 Motorama. A new X-member chassis contributed to structural rigidity as well as to a profile nearly three inches lower than before. Of course, the lack of side rails meant that the new frame afforded virtually no lateral impact protection, but Detroit wasn't particularly safety-conscious in those days.

Once more the Eldorado Biarritz and Seville had their own rear-end configuration. The work of Ron Hill, a talented 23-year-old design newcomer, it featured a sloped deck flanked by rounded fenders sprouting sharply pointed fins called by some in the industry as "Chipmunk Cheeks". Rear wheel openings were again skinless, and the lower rear fenders were liberally garnished with chrome.

The hood ornament was eliminated, contributing to a smoother frontal appearance, which was a bold move at the time.

The Danbury Mint 1957 Cadillac Eldorado Seville recreated in 1:24th scale exemplifies all the changes that were made to this exciting automobile, and done so with remarkable detail and accuracy. The Bahama Blue paint is flawless; it has a smooth wet look with just enough gloss, and the light blue vicodec roof covering complements this model nicely. All panels align perfectly with no unsightly gaps or flaws. The chrome trim was very well applied; hugging the body tightly with a realistic chromed appearance.

To put it simply the Danbury Mint 1957 Cadillac Seville is as good as it gets when reviewing a precision diecast. I personally love the look of this model and you will too. Take a minute and absorb the beauty of the nose above. Check out the lights; there are no ugly dots in the headlights to detract from a beautiful replica. The grille is open not a molded piece of plastic, therefore if you shine a light into the grille you can view the radiator that resides behind it. Also, the Cadillac emblem is molded not a decal and the wipers are also molded not photo-etched, making for one exciting model.

The interior of the Danbury Mint 1957 Eldorado Seville is just as flawlessly articulated as its exterior, making the $120 window sticker a bargain for a model of this caliber. Opening the doors I was impressed how smoothly they operated and the hinges were hidden. Peering into the model I was further impressed by the beauty and realism that graced my stare. The seat backs fold forward, and the rear armrest folds down. The instrument cluster is stunning, and it goes without saying that Danbury has the best in the industry. Viewing the front seat I was equally impressed by the controls on the driver side that emulated the electric controls. Talk about "bling" I found it throughout this gorgeous replica and you will too.

The engine compartment is very well detailed, no let me correct that; the engine compartment is picture perfect accurate so much so that I was looking for a key to start it up and take it for a ride. Outstanding, mind numbing accurate, beautiful, you pick the word that best describes the engine compartment; they all work to describe this model, which is fully wired and plumbed. However, what made me smile upon viewing the "bling" inside this engine bay was the area between the radiator and grille; it just is stunning. The latch, braces along with the battery sitting in its tray just add to the realism of a finely crafted replica making it worth every penny of the $120 price tag.
