JSS had the pleasure of reviewing one of the sharpest die cast sent to us in a long time; a "PhillyMint Exclusive" produced by ACME Trading Company, it is a 1:24th scale, 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T finished in W1 Alpine White limited to 250 units worldwide; it will "Vanish" before you know it.
Vinny and ACME took this one to the next level, I am truly impressed; from the "Colorado License Plate" to the custom packaging this model is "Vanishing" at a quick pace, get on-board before this one is all gone, at $109.95 it is a steal.
Fit and finish of the PhillyMint exclusive was outstanding, the paint was flawless, shut lines were nice and tight and everything functioned smoothly. This model is equipped with poseable steering, a feature I like; allowing me the ability to stage the model which is great if you plan on using it in a diorama, or a movie scene.
This little beauty is loaded with working features, allowing you to enjoy the "Glory Days" of muscle cars, pop the trunk and there you are back in 1970 trying to figure out how you can go on vacation when there is no room for a suitcase. Hey, these cars were not grocery getters; they were built for speed, the PhillyMint Apine White model looks the part too.
Engine detail is something I lust over, show me the power plant, show me all the goodies; I was a guy that wrenched on my cars, I drove them down the quarter-mile strip on a Friday Night, shhh don't tell mom. I want to see the nooks and crannies, I want to remember the smell of burnt oil, brake fluid, anti-freeze and I do when I stare at the detail under the hood on these models.
Here again ACME and Vinny kicked it up a notch, the "426 HEMI" is replicated in exacting detail, smell the fumes, I do, shear power waiting to be unleashed, it doesn't get any better than this. And remember all this detail for just $109.95, trust me this one is "Vanishing" quickly. Get my "Point"?
Flipping the model on its side you can admire the detailed undercarriage with correct overspray and working suspension too.
Bottom line, this one is a keeper, NO BS, and for the price it is a steal, you better call before these models reach their "Vanishing Point" and are all gone! I'm just sayin'!
