Automodello 1966 Ford

We have excitement in the die cast arena again, it feels good too. Automodello received the first samples of their much anticipated 1966 Ford Galaxie 500 7-Litre, JSS was able to take some of the first shots of this 'New model for you, here they are:

Automodello first announced that this model was going to be produced in early 2014. Understand there is a lot that goes into giving birth, to a project of this magnitude, lawyers, licensing and of course Ford to deal with, a lot of back and forth before the final product goes into full production, it happened and here is the fruit of that labor.

A little about the Ford Galaxie 500 7 Litre, since I received a few emails asking why this model? The 1966 Ford Galaxie 500 7-Litre was fitted with a 'New engine, it was a Thunderbird V8, 345 hp 428 cu in, this car could haul ass. The car also had a police version which came equipped with 360 hp 428 cu in engine and was known as the ' Police Interceptor'. The Galaxie was well received in 1966 placing third in car sales for that year, not bad, not bad at all.

Unpacking the models I was excited to view a model that I knew, it graced the streets of our small town back in 1966. I actually dated a girl who drove a white one which belonged to her father, he happened to be the service manager of the local Ford dealership, the dealership appears the same today as it did in 1966.

I remember her father’s car and its features as if it was sitting in my driveway today; I remember the upholstery, trim, dash and especially its muscle. Automodello, pretty much nailed it, as I caressed the model admiring all its detailing it brought me back to a time I truly enjoyed, a simple time in my life.

Summing up our first impression of the Automodello 1966 Ford Galaxie is as folloes: the fit and finish was very good, I especially liked the look of them all, color wise I take exception to the white, then gold and finally the blue. Don't get me wrong the Candy Apple red was very nice but the colors I just mentioned are the ones I remember and could put a face to the cars, they are the ones that tell a me a story.

You may not have a face or a story to go with this replica, as I do, therefore if you are considering making the purchase to fill a void in your collection, I am here to tell you go ahead; you won't regret your decision.

As I started to say the fit and finish is very good, trim is exceptional and the interior is unbelievable. This car didn't have many options from the factory, I believe an AM/FM radio was one and a parking brake light the other. Not sure on that one but I believe it was an option. I don't remember seeing any with white wall tires, as a young man, but then again it was 1966, black walls were all the rage, the blackwalls work for me on this model and they will for you too.

Bottom line, you won't go wrong purchasing this model, it will surely put a smile on your face if you are old enough to remember the vehicle, as I am. Regardless, it will make a wonderful addition to any collection; you won't regret your decision.
