The Franklin Mint Dodge Challenger R/T Hemi is a brand new tool of a classic muscle car. I believe the Franklin Mint hit a home run with this model but I will let you be the judge of that. Let's kick the tires, pop the hood and take it for a spin around the block to see if it has what it takes to " pop your cork" or not.

The 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T Hemi was recreated by the Franklin Mint in 1:24th scale in the beautiful color known as Plum Crazy. The model in my opinion was very well executed and is well worth the sticker price which is $120 plus shipping and handling.

The year was 1970 and Chrysler Corporation must have just heard the music playing because they were once again late to the dance. That dance being the ballad of the Pony car, which was actually in the final verse. If only this car made its debut a few years earlier who knows how the final verse would have been sung.

The chassis was a typical pony car with drum brakes, independent front suspension and a solid axle on leaf springs at the rear. The performance R/T package included a Rallye instrument cluster, performance suspension, heavy-duty brakes and exterior identification. Engines ranged from the week-kneed 198-ci/101-hp slant-six to Chrysler’s tire-smoking legendary Street Hemi.

The Franklin Mint Challenger R/T fit and finish is picture perfect. The replica has a glass like finish that is simply stunning to behold with just the right amount of metallic added to the paint. Also the replica has many working features including a removable shaker scoop. The doors utilize hidden hinges and the hood uses a new scissor design as its lifting mechanism. The lanyards located on the front of the hood are fastened for you, you don't have to worry about how will you ever see that tiny hole to place the pin in it. Or worse yet how will those big arthritic fingers maneuver the pin into place in the first place.

Regardless of how you plan to pose this replica you won't find a bad angle. To say I was impressed with this replica would be an understatement and I look forward to viewing the next generation of models from the Franklin Mint; I hope they will build from their success with models such as this Dodge Challenger, therefore, future releases will be outstanding I hope.

If you see a Dodge Challenger in your future I suggest you take a good look at the Franklin Mint rendition you won't be disappointed. The model definitely "popped my cork" and had enough bling to keep me smiling, and for $120 plus shipping and handling it's a no-brainer that you need to add this one to your collection or at the very least the must-have list.
