1969 Mercury Cougar Eliminator

This special performance version of the car only came in 4 colors, B6 Bright Blue Metallic, competition orange, yellow, and white; and could be fitted with 302, 351, 390, 429 (only 2 built) and 428 V8 engine.
This particular car in pictures has a standard 351 in it.
Performance buyers really missed a super car here, in hind-sight. Very few were sold by Mercury dealers, about 4500 total for the two-year run combined, 1969 and 1970.

Here is one with the 428 Cobra Jet motor

The yellow and competition orange??? (looks like red to me) versions:

Looks good to me but back then I had just bought a GTO
new the year before.

A stunning car - that DM neglected to do in 1:24, ANOTHER MAJOR goof.

One of my best friends had an orange veersion of the '69 Eliminator back in the '80s.

I like everything about them except the rear spoiler. You can't go wrong with blue.

Dad's was like the blue one. Until a snow plow clipped and totalled it.

Nice. One of my cousins had a 68, I think it had a 302 in it? Anyway, it was a beautiful car.

I would have gotten that blue one in diecast. Too bad that the Cougar never got any attention.
