Quirky French car that stood out from the crowd for 20 years, 1955 to 1975. I would appreciate having a 1:24 diecast model of it.

1971/1972 Citroen DS

Bill, I buy my Salvat models from a seller called Jumajo on Ebay. Reasonably priced and excellent service. I've always had good luck dealing with them.

Bill, here's the website. Just type in 1/24 in the search bar. There's like 20 pages of cool models.

Some interesting things there. But unfortunately
I no longer use credit cards, so ordering online is not possible.
In Michigan there used to be a diecast shop within an RV store that I would shop for unusual diecast when I traveled there. I'll have to see if they are still in business.

Thanks Gene, IDK where those are sold but may have to look into it.

I said "quirky", guys!

(It's a design I didn't like at first, but it grew and grew the more I saw it. Especially so, now that we're living in an era of look-alike copycat car designs.
And Citroen kept tweaking the styling and design subtly over the years, to meet export market regulations and customer demands, etc. The car is interesting to study over its years in production.)

I would never buy a 1:1, it would be a nightmare to maintain and obtain repair parts, but admit I'm itching to drive one sometime. The pneumatic air suspension and self-leveling system the car has intrigues me.
I've read the car sinks down after the engine is turned off, because the air pump is engine-driven. Start it up in the morning, the car rises up when the pump feeds air back into the lines.
During its 20 years in production, the car was successful in rally races, in large part because of the suspension and leveling system.

Technologically innovative, but just too "out there" for me.

Just my opinion, but I've always thought these Citroens were the oddest proportioned, unattractive cars on the planet.

Bill, Salvat makes 1/24 versions of these. This is just one of several versions they make. This is a 1956.
