My first job at age 16 (1967), was at the Boulevard Drive-In theater in Fayetteville NC, home of Fort Bragg & Pope AFB. Worked 4 nights a week getting the money from the cars, getting the tickets and running back to the cars to keep the line moving. Lots of running kept me trim. Also tracking down cars with people in the trunk. Lots of wonderful cars driven by young GI's during those war years. The theater was family owned and operated and they were the best people. All the young employees had to show their report cards because if we did not keep our grades up they would cut our number of nights. When I graduated in 1969, and was off to college in Miami, they gave me $500 to get me started which was a lot of money in 1969. So many wonderful memories of that first job. However, I seldom eat popcorn to this day.
