Packards I believe were just about the best engineered automobiles on the road. It was the true standard, not Cadillac really.
I have read about how the Chairman of Packard, Henry Joy, would annually take new Packard prototypes on trips from Michigan to California and back to test them out before they were approved for sale to the public. In those days, there really weren't roads to travel on out West .... so the testing was really thorough.
