Hello,

About once a month or so I look through the JSS threads to review topics and once struck me as odd, so I thought I'd explain.

When Automodello first started, the general rule was to get as many PreOrders as possible to determine the interest in a particular image. The recurring issue with this approach is the ecommerce platform used by Diecasm and Automodello was a credit card will immediately be charged. Just like an airline ticket, the flight and the model will then occur sometime in the future.

During and after the pandemic as delivery delays started streching from months to years, some changes were necessary:

  • All PreOrders were moved to Automodello exclusively. Diecasm can no longer accept a PreOrder, however, if there is a Diecasm PreOrder for Automodello outstanding, it is still valid.

  • Automodello Payment Plan was introduced as an option instead of using a credit card for either 1 or 3 payments.

  • Reservation was introduced post-pandemic. Unlike the Payment Plan which requires an initial payment, the Reservation requires no upfront payment. Instead when a model is ready to be shipped, it must be paid for prior to shipment.

Automodello still accepts credit card on PreOrders, however, the preferred payment is Reservation as this solidifies the interest in a particular model and doesn't cost the collector anything to do so.

For the 1961 Cadillac Series 62 that is currently in development the vast majority of PreOrders are Reservations. The same is true with the 1937 Graham and 2016-2019 Cadillac CTS-V.

Hope everyone has a happy Thanksgiving,
