Bill that's one interesting part of drag racing you can wander around the pits at many of the tracks and must of the time speak with the drivers unless its race time then their busy at least that's the way it was at English town when we used to go there.

Neat shot.

Bill, that's the way it was at Indy back in the 80s too. As long as you gave the pit crew respectful room to work - you could be close enough to feel the heat off the engine.
I quit going ... life got busy and the ticket prices got silly.

we had fans in our pit area at dirt circle tracks, they paid extra to be there (lol, we didn't get the money, the fans paid at the gate);
I just didn't realize the big racing series were that open
