Studebaker Lark The turn signals are in different places in these, and I have to admit I don't know which are 1961 .... so here they all are. Edit: Ooops, looks like the orange one is 1961, from the plate on it.
Maybe your answer to naming a favorite is "none of the above". You'd rather have a big Buick!

We might have to revisit 1961, so much expansion of models this year.
Sorry. I thought it would be a snap, pulling small cars for '61 together. The Skylark was my starting point, then it snowballed! It was surprising how many offerings there were, and also the number of photos that were found. I tried to limit it to 2-doors, but I was eating potato chips, couldn't stop!
Next time, I'll go into the big cars. There aren't so many! Steve, you're right, 1961 was a very good year.
In my case, the Skylark of course is first, just like the one in front of the covered bridge. Then comes the Dodge Lancer in blue. Third is a tough choice, but I'm liking those small open air cars .... it's a tie for third -- the Studebaker Lark and Rambler American.
Great work finding all these pictures. My favorites are still the big cars--Starfire and all the Buicks. Of the small cars just coming out then, I am partial to the Corvair--my uncle had a 61 4 door Monza and my wife had a yellow 65 coupe. I Xed out the Valiant even though my mom had a 61 White Valiant wagon. Too weird looking. Was never a big fan of the smaller GMs except the Corvair. To me the rest were just downsized bigger cars and didn't have their own look. At least the Corvair, Valiant and Lark had their own, unique looks.
