Mark Donohue Javelin SST
AMC produced 2501 of these, to meet Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) rules for racing. I think the rear spoiler shape is unique to this version only.
My first gf was a big fan of Mark Donohue, who was racing the Indy 500 at the time. I was a Bobby Unser fan, but never argued.

A blue one!

One of 100 built in 1970, also for racing rules - Javelin SST 390 Trans Am Edition

I do like all of them, I was not a fan of AMC but these rang my bell.

AMC was capable of coming up with some good designs and vehicles. Unfortunately, they lacked the financial resources to do more than one or two vehicles at a time. The Javelin/AMX and Hornet were good. The '70s Matador a major fail.

I was a Donahue fan too.
Wish DM had done his TransAm car in 1:24.

There's one other AMC race car that doesn't get talked about much
Bobby Alison drove a 'Matador' in NASCAR about this same time.
I beleive he won a race in it too.

We'vee mentioned AMC surviving.
It's not hard to imagine 'Pacer' or 'Gremlin' - as a 'battery-powered car!!!
ARGH! LOL!

I would have gone for one from DM. Before I bought my first car my dad told me there a Javelin for sale on the bulletin board where he worked. It was a 390 but since it was an automatic I did not look at it. At the time I wanted a 4-speed. Ended up with a 1970 Duster 340.
